The “Coach” Karl DeMasi has been teaching and coaching for the past 35 years on all levels of academia and athletics. One of his hobbies has been writing, announcing and talking about sports. DeMasi has been involved in the Savannah Area sports scene since 1995, and he created the high school magazine “The Prep Sports Report” in 2000. In 2010, the “Coach” started broadcasting The Karl DeMasi Sports Report. The show can be heard “LIVE” every Saturday from 9 AM until 11 AM live. Wetherington Chiropractic Clinic Athlete of the Week – Savannah Christian senior baseball Player Zach Brockman
Zach, a senior pitcher at Savannah Christian Prep, batted .571 in three games to help the Raiders extended their eight game-winning streak. On the season, Brockman is hitting .414 with 3 doubles, 1 triple, and 4 runs batted in, in seven games. On the pitching mound, Zach is continuing where he left off last season. Brockman has a 2-0 record in three starts, 31 strikeouts in 21 innings pitched, and an earned run average of 0.66.
Zach, last year was named the Region 3-A (East) pitcher of the year after posting an 11-2 record with a 2.05 ERA. Brockman at the plate hit .433 with a .513 on-base percentage, had 25 RBIs, scored 31 runs, and stole 15 bases in 16 attempts. Besides being a 3-A All-Region selection for the past two seasons, he was also a Greater Savannah All City 1st Team Basbeall player selected by the Savannah Morning News. In November, Zach signed a National Letter Intent to continue his baseball career at Liberty University in Lynchburg Virginia.

The Wetherington Chiropractic Clinic Athlete of the Week – Sol C. Johnson High School junior Basketball Player Sy'Marieona Williams
Sy’Marieona, a 5' 1" junior guard at Sol C. Johnson High School, hit back to back 3-pointers to start out the fourth quarter in Johnson’s 3A region title win over rival Beach on February 10th. Johnson was leading 39 - 37 when Williams hit those two big three pointers to give the Lady Atomsmashers a lead they never relinquished. Sy’Marieona finished the game with 17 points.
Williams also reached a high school basketball milestone on January 20th, scoring her 1000th career point in a win over Southeast Bulloch. Another key fact about Williams she won the Most Valuable Player for the Lady Atomsmashers as a freshman.

Wetherington Chiropractic Clinic Athlete of the Week – Richmond Hill High School junior Taylor Wilson
Taylor, a junior wrestler at Richmond Hill High School, won the Georgia High School State Association Class 6A 182-pound weight classification on February 10th in Macon. Wilson had to wrestle rival wrestler Brantley Emanuel from Effingham County High. Taylor won the match 5-0 to capture the gold medal.
On the season, Wilson has 45-3 record. Taylor did not take up the sport of wrestling until he was an eighth grader. “I tried other sports but I was not thrilled. I started wrestling and enjoyed it was a one on one sport,” said Wilson. “It’s a dream come true, and it will be a challenge to be the best wrestler next year again. I look forward to it.”

The Wetherington Chiropractic Clinic Athlete of the Week – Savannah Country Day Senior Swimmer Brennan Pastorek
Brennan, a senior at Savannah Country Day School, swam to two state titles on February 3rd at the Georgia High School State Association Diving and Swimming Championships at the Georgia Tech Aquatic Center.
Pastorek, who signed in a National Letter of Intent in November to swim at Stanford University. Stanford is considered one of the top NCAA Division I College swim programs in the USA. Brennan swam in the Class 1A-5A meet. Pastorek, captured the gold medal in the 200-yard Individual Medley with a time of 1:46:06 and then another gold medal in the 100 freestyle race in a time of 44.12.
