The “Coach” Karl DeMasi has been teaching and coaching for the past 35 years on all levels of academia and athletics. One of his hobbies has been writing, announcing and talking about sports. DeMasi has been involved in the Savannah Area sports scene since 1995, and he created the high school magazine “The Prep Sports Report” in 2000. In 2010, the “Coach” started broadcasting The Karl DeMasi Sports Report. The show can be heard “LIVE” every Saturday from 9 AM until 11 AM live. The Wetherington Chiropractic Clinic Athlete of the Week – Former Benedictine Cadet & Now Savannah Bananas Baseball Player Mike Huggins 06.17.17

Huggins is known as a versatile baseball player. The former Benedictine Military School, Darton College standout, and now Georgia State baseball player added that characteristic to the Savannah Bananas Squad to start the Coastal Plain season this summer. As of right now Mikey as he is known around town is on a temporary contract with the Bananas. "He is a scrappy ballplayer," said Bananas Coach Sean West. "He does a lot of the little things right, and that's why we invited him to start out the season."
Mikey is looking forward to doing whatever it takes to play in front of his family and friends as he stated on The Karl DeMasi Sports Report on June 17th. Listen to Huggin's interview. He is a humble young man but on the field, he is a fierce competitor, and wants to do whatever it takes to stay on the squad. The Wetherington Chiropractic Clinic Athlete of the Week – Savannah Christian Prep Baseball Player Kyle Hilton 06.03.17
Kyle Hilton, Freshman Savannah Christian Prep Baseball - P/Inf
Hilton pitched a two-hitter in the Georgia High School Assocaition Class A Private school championship game against Tattnall Square Academy. Kyle struck out the side in the seventh to keep the game tied. Hilton recorded the win as sophomore Jarrett Brown had the walk-off hit in the bottom of the inning. As a pitcher Kyle amassed a perfect record at 12-0.
During the season, Hitlon was the number two pitcher in the Raiders rotation and had unbelievable stats for a freshman. He was 10-0 with a 1.61 ERA. He had 59 strikeouts, and 18 walks in 56 2/3 innings. Hilton at the plate batted .301, had a .359 On BasePercentage and knocked in 18 runs. Kyle was selected a first team player from two publications. One by the Savannah Morning News on the All-Greater Savannah Baseball team and the Georgia Dugout Club also honored Kyle on the All-State Class A Private team. Thomas Karle, Benedictine Military School, Tennis
Karle, a rising junior tennis player at Benedictine Military School, led the Cadets to the Georgia High School Association Elite Eight Tennis Tournament with a 26-0 record. Over two prep tennis seasons Thomas has an amazing 46-1 record. Karle also participates on the United States Tennis Association Junior Tennis circuit and is ranked 29th in Georgia. Thomas has also has been named the Savannah Morning News’ Boys Tennis Player of the Year for the second year in a row. James Wohler, Savannah Christian Prep, Golf
Wohler, a senior golfer at Savannah Christian, captured the Savannah City High School Championship at Bacon Park with a 2-over-par 73 on April 3, 2017. James as the number-one golfer on the Savannah Christian Prep Golf team, led the Raiders to the Georgia High School Association Golf Tournament. Wohler shot an 80 in the state golf match. James has also been one of the top prep golfers all four years and earned the 2017 Savannah Morning News Boys Golfer of the Year.
