
The “Coach” Karl DeMasi has been teaching and coaching for the past 35 years on all levels of academia and athletics. One of his hobbies has been writing, announcing and talking about sports. DeMasi has been involved in the Savannah Area sports scene since 1995, and he created the high school magazine “The Prep Sports Report” in 2000. In 2010, the “Coach” started broadcasting The Karl DeMasi Sports Report. The show can be heard “LIVE” every Saturday from 9 AM until 11 AM live. The Wetherington Chiropractic Clinic Athlete of the Week – Savannah Christian Prep Baseball Player Kyle Hilton 06.03.17
Kyle Hilton, Freshman Savannah Christian Prep Baseball - P/Inf
Hilton pitched a two-hitter in the Georgia High School Assocaition Class A Private school championship game against Tattnall Square Academy. Kyle struck out the side in the seventh to keep the game tied. Hilton recorded the win as sophomore Jarrett Brown had the walk-off hit in the bottom of the inning. As a pitcher Kyle amassed a perfect record at 12-0.
During the season, Hitlon was the number two pitcher in the Raiders rotation and had unbelievable stats for a freshman. He was 10-0 with a 1.61 ERA. He had 59 strikeouts, and 18 walks in 56 2/3 innings. Hilton at the plate batted .301, had a .359 On BasePercentage and knocked in 18 runs. Kyle was selected a first team player from two publications. One by the Savannah Morning News on the All-Greater Savannah Baseball team and the Georgia Dugout Club also honored Kyle on the All-State Class A Private team. Thomas Karle, Benedictine Military School, Tennis
Karle, a rising junior tennis player at Benedictine Military School, led the Cadets to the Georgia High School Association Elite Eight Tennis Tournament with a 26-0 record. Over two prep tennis seasons Thomas has an amazing 46-1 record. Karle also participates on the United States Tennis Association Junior Tennis circuit and is ranked 29th in Georgia. Thomas has also has been named the Savannah Morning News’ Boys Tennis Player of the Year for the second year in a row. James Wohler, Savannah Christian Prep, Golf
Wohler, a senior golfer at Savannah Christian, captured the Savannah City High School Championship at Bacon Park with a 2-over-par 73 on April 3, 2017. James as the number-one golfer on the Savannah Christian Prep Golf team, led the Raiders to the Georgia High School Association Golf Tournament. Wohler shot an 80 in the state golf match. James has also been one of the top prep golfers all four years and earned the 2017 Savannah Morning News Boys Golfer of the Year. RYNE WOLLENBURG – senior - St. Andrew’s Baseball
Wollenburg has been a four year starter on the St. Andrew’s School baseball team. Ryan plays shortstop and was the lead-off hitter in the Lion’s lineup for Coach Scott Abernathy. In the four years that Ryne has been part of the St. Andrew’s baseball program, the Lions won 55 games and did not miss the SCISA state playoffs. Personal stats for Wollenburg are impressive. At the plate, Ryne this season batted .516 with a .576 OBP, with 11 doubles, 20 RBI and 38 runs scored, 32 stolen bases in 34 attempts and struck out just four times all year. Wollenburg was a Savannah Morning News Best of Preps 2017 All-Greater Savannah 1st team choice. Furthermore, Wollenburg just signed to play baseball at Flagler College in Florida.

RACHEL WOHN - junior Savannah Arts Academy Golf
Rachel, a junior at the Savannah Arts Academy, won the Savannah City High School Championships at Bacon Park Golf Course on April 3, 2017. Rachel shot a 35 to capture the nine-hole competition by five strokes. Furthermore, this is Wohn's third straight girl's title as she won as a freshman and sophomore.

The 2017 MLB season has officially started, and boys of summer had lots to discuss. The Coach Karl DeMasi from The Karl DeMasi Sports Report and the Baseball Fanatic Kyle Lawson showed up and talked about who's in first, who's hot, and who's not. The Coach and Kyle tried to break down all the action from the initial month into the MLB season, and of course focused on the hometown team; the Atlanta Braves. The show was the inaugural, “Who’s on First MLB Show” on ESPN Radio Savannah 104.3 & AM 1400 and was sponsored by ESPN Radio Savannah 104.3 & AM 1400 & The World of Beer Savannah. The Wetherington Chiropractic Clinic Athlete of the Week – South Effingham High School Tennis Player Logan Edwards 4.29.2017
Logan, a senior tennis player at South Effingham High School, this season compiled a 17– 2 record. As a four starter for the Mustangs, Edwards accrued a 62-13 record in singles play. Furthermore, Logan has tournament experience and played US Junior tennis according to South Effingham High School Head Coach Kristen Finlen. “She has been to the state playoffs all four years with going to the Elite 8 2014 and 2017,” said Finlen “She has been a key player on our team and made our team strong and deep.”
Additionally, the Mustangs Girl’s Tennis team captured the 3 AAAAA Region Title again and made a deep run in the Georgia High School State Association State playoffs. Logan plans on attending college and continuing her tennis career.
